Odyssee Europa
Der Autor und Migrationsforscher Mark Terkessidis über Neudeutungen von Homers Epos

Mark Terkessidis spricht über Odysseus als Reisenden und über das Potenzial einer Kultur des "Dazwischen". Terkessidis hat über Multikulturalismus, Massen- und Popkultur sowie über interkulturelle Entwicklungen geforscht.

An diesem Wochenende findet eines der ehrgeizigsten Projekte des Kulturhauptstadtjahres "Ruhr.2010" statt - die "Odyssee Europa".

Sechs Autoren haben Homers berühmte Heldendichtung sechs Mal neu erzählt; in den Theatern von sechs Städten im Ruhrgebiet werden diese Schauspiele am Samstag und Sonntag uraufgeführt. Das Publikum erlebt zugleich selbst eine "Irrfahrt", indem es durch die Licht- und Schattenwelt der Metropole Ruhr von Theater zu Theater reist.

In einer Reihe von Reden im Vorfeld der "Odyssee Europa" haben Peter Sloterdijk, Navid Kermani oder Jonathan Meese das Epos und seinen Helden hinterfragt. Mark Terkessidis, Autor und Migrationsforscher, sprach im Rahmen dieser Reihe über Odysseus als Reisenden und über das Potenzial einer Kultur des "Dazwischen". Terkessidis ist Experte für die "Gesellschaft in Bewegung"; er hat über Multikulturalismus, Massen- und Popkultur sowie über interkulturelle Entwicklungen geforscht.

Im Gespräch mit Karin Fischer erläutert Mark Terkessidis, inwiefern die "Odyssee" auf Migrationsbewegungen heute zu beziehen ist und warum Homer sogar im aktuellen Streit zwischen Deutschland beziehungsweise der Europäischen Union und Griechenland eine Rolle spielt.
